Promoting basic education of rural and Roma girls in Canton Sarajevo

In the period June 2017 -May 2018 the Association „Novi put“ implementd a project titled „Promoting basic education of rural and Roma girls in Canton Sarajevo“. The project #GG1638559 was funded by the Rotary Internatiobal and was suported by the Rotary Club Mostar.

During the project implementation 42 workshops for a total of 1006 beneficiaries were held. The WSs were designed to promote education of girls and importance of education for all. 5 workshops were held for Roma parents aimed at promotion of education for all. A 12-month mentoring program was successful implemented and included 32 female mentors from the Sarajevo University and 115 mentees. 18 Roma girls attended a literacy course aimed at giving a possibility for even informal education of Roma children, especially girls who are often victims of forced begging and child marriages, even sexual exploitation in the country and/or who drop-out due to lack of any sanitation and thus absence of personal hygiene and extreme poverty. Aimed at promoting importance of education for all and especially for girls “Novi put” team carried out street campaigns in the entire Sarajevo Canton and distributed informative materials and information to general public. The project activities attracted attention of manor print and electronic news media.
